We became interested in photography while living in Germany. After moving to Pennsylvania, we discovered our love of nature, especially birds, while roaming our state and local parks. We have turned our yard into a haven for birds and insects, which in turn provide us with willing photo objects.

Doris is a graduate of the New York Institute of Photography. She divides her time between writing, nature photography, and public speaking. She is a regular contributor to Pennsylvania Magazine. Her books Oktober Heat and Create Your Own Backyard Wildlife Habitat are available on Amazon.

Doris has won several awards for her photography, most notably a first place in Wildbird Magazine’s photo contest 2005 for her photo of an airborne Tufted Titmouse. Following this award, she was featured on KDKA-TV. She also won the Feathered Friends category in Birds & Blooms magazine’s backyard photo contest 2009-10.
